The Museum Curator Received a Complaint About a Painting
A museum curator was walking through the gallery when an angry visitor approached.
“I have a serious complaint!”
The curator immediately became concerned.
“What seems to be the problem?”
“This painting is terrible!”
The curator looked at the painting.
It was an extremely expensive masterpiece.
“Perhaps you don’t understand the artistic style.”
“Oh, I understand it perfectly,” the visitor said. “It looks like someone painted it during an earthquake.”
The curator tried to remain professional.
“Art doesn’t always need to be beautiful.”
“I agree.”
“Sometimes art is about emotion.”
“Exactly.”
“Sometimes it’s about making the viewer think.”
The visitor nodded.
“This painting has definitely made me think.”
The curator smiled.
“About what?”
The visitor pointed at the painting.
“About whether the artist was allowed to leave the house unsupervised.”
The curator stared silently at the painting.
Then he whispered:
“You know what…”
“Yes?”
“I’ve worked here twelve years.”
“And?”
“I’ve been thinking the same thing.”
😂 Moral: Even expensive art occasionally needs a second opinion.
