My Neighbor Bought a Very Expensive Doorbell
My neighbor proudly showed me his new smart doorbell.
“It has a camera, microphone, motion detection, everything.”
“Wow,” I said. “What did it cost?”
He told me.
I nearly dropped my coffee.
“That’s more than my first car!”
He smiled.
“It’s worth it.”
“Why?”
“Now I always know who’s at my door.”
The next day, he called me.
“You have to see this!”
He showed me the doorbell camera.
A delivery driver was standing outside.
The doorbell announced,
“Motion detected.”
My neighbor opened the app.
“Hello! Who are you?”
The delivery driver looked directly at the camera.
“I’m the pizza guy.”
My neighbor said,
“I know.”
The driver looked confused.
“Then why did you ask?”
My neighbor thought for a moment.
“I don’t know.”
The driver walked away.
Then the doorbell announced,
“Motion detected.”
My neighbor shouted,
“I KNOW!”
He turned to me.
“See? Very useful.”
I nodded.
“Absolutely.”
“What do you think?”
“I think your doorbell is smarter than you.”
He stared at me.
Then laughed.
“That’s why I bought it.”
