My Mom Asked Why I Was Wearing My Best Clothes to the Grocery Store
Mom saw me getting dressed.
“Why are you wearing that nice shirt?”
“I’m going grocery shopping.”
She laughed.
“You’re just buying milk.”
“I know.”
“Then why are you dressed like you’re going to a wedding?”
I smiled.
“You never know who you’ll meet.”
At the store, I saw my old school friend.
We hadn’t seen each other in years.
He looked at me and said,
“Wow! You look great!”
I smiled proudly.
Mom looked at me.
“See?”
I whispered,
“Never underestimate a trip for milk.”
Then my friend asked,
“Where do you work now?”
I suddenly remembered I was wearing slippers.
