My Friend Tried to Impress a Waiter and Accidentally Ordered Something He Couldn’t Pronounce

My friend took me to a fancy restaurant.

He looked at the menu and whispered,

“Don’t worry. I know how to order fancy food.”

The waiter came over.

“Are you ready to order?”

My friend confidently pointed at the menu.

“I’ll have the… uh…”

He stared at the name.

The waiter waited.

My friend tried again.

“The… thingy.”

The waiter smiled.

“Which one?”

My friend pointed harder.

“That one.”

The waiter looked at the menu.

“The beef?”

My friend nodded quickly.

“Yes. Exactly.”

Then the waiter asked,

“And how would you like it cooked?”

My friend confidently replied,

“With fire.”

I nearly fell off my chair.

The waiter paused.

“Medium?”

“Yes.”

“Medium rare?”

My friend looked at me.

“What’s the difference?”

I whispered,

“About five minutes.”

He nodded.

“Then give me medium. I don’t have five minutes.”

The waiter walked away trying not to laugh.

My friend leaned toward me.

“I think I handled that very professionally.”

I said,

“You ordered beef with fire.”

He smiled.

“Exactly. Very clear instructions.”

😂 Moral: Confidence can make you sound intelligent… right up until someone asks a follow-up question.
