My Neighbor Borrowed My Ladder and Returned It with a Thank-You Note
My neighbor knocked on my door.
“Can I borrow your ladder?”
“Sure,” I said.
An hour later, he returned it with a thank-you note taped to the side.
I laughed.
“You didn’t have to leave a note.”
He smiled.
“It wasn’t from me.”
“It wasn’t?”
“Nope.”
“Then who wrote it?”
He pointed at the ladder.
“It climbed to success and wanted to thank you.”
I stared at him.
“Did you make that joke just to avoid buying your own ladder?”
He grinned.
“Maybe.”
I handed him the note.
“Keep it.”
“Why?”
“You clearly need the encouragement more than I do.”
We both burst into laughter.
😂 Moral: Some people return borrowed things… with borrowed jokes too.
