My Dad Bought a New Pair of Shoes and Refused to Wear Them
Dad came home with expensive new shoes.
Mom asked,
“Why aren’t you wearing them?”
Dad replied,
“These are special.”
“Special how?”
“They’re for special occasions.”
The next week, Dad went to a birthday party.
He wore his old shoes.
Mom asked,
“Why didn’t you wear the new ones?”
“Not special enough.”
A month later, we went to a wedding.
Dad wore the old shoes again.
Mom sighed.
“Then when are you going to wear the new ones?”
Dad smiled.
“When they become old.”
Mom stared at him.
“So you’re saving new shoes until they’re old?”
Dad nodded.
“Exactly.”
“That makes absolutely no sense.”
Dad looked at his shoes.
“That’s why they’re special.”
Mom walked away laughing.
