The Hotel Receptionist Asked If I Wanted a Wake-Up Call

I checked into a hotel late at night.

The receptionist smiled.

“Would you like a wake-up call tomorrow morning?”

“Yes, please. Seven o’clock.”

She nodded.

“Anything else?”

I thought for a second.

“Actually, yes.”

She picked up her pen.

“What would you like?”

“Could you also call me at 7:05?”

She looked confused.

“Why?”

“So I can hear someone else tell me I’m late.”

She laughed.

“Do you usually sleep through your alarm?”

“No.”

“Then why do you need two calls?”

“Because the first one is for waking up.”

“And the second?”

I smiled.

“Negotiating with myself.”

She laughed.

The next morning, the phone rang at 7.

“Good morning. This is your wake-up call.”

I opened one eye.

“Tell them I’m not available.”

Five minutes later, the phone rang again.

“Good morning. This is your second wake-up call.”

I sighed.

“Okay, okay. I’m awake.”

The receptionist replied,

“Wonderful.”

Then she added,

“Your taxi has been waiting outside since 6:45.”

I jumped out of bed.

“WHY DIDN’T YOU LEAD WITH THAT?”

😂 Moral: Nothing wakes you up faster than realizing someone is waiting for you.
